The spa is contemporary in design and focus — a contrast to the historical-institutional character of Edipsos. Loutraki's waterfront promenade runs along the Corinthian Gulf with mountain views across the water toward Sterea Ellada. Ancient Corinth is 7 km away; the Corinth Canal is a short drive east.

Loutraki and the Corinthian Gulf

Loutraki sits on the Corinthian Gulf with a 3 km waterfront promenade — one of the most pleasant in mainland Greece. The backdrop is the Geraneia mountain range rising directly behind the town. Ancient Corinth, 7 km southwest, is one of the most important ancient cities in Greece — a major commercial and religious centre that produced two of the New Testament's epistles and was visited by both Saint Paul and Julius Caesar. The Corinth Archaeological Museum and the Temple of Apollo (seven standing columns, extraordinarily well-preserved) are accessible from Loutraki in under 30 minutes.

The Corinth Canal — 6.3 km long, dug between 1881 and 1893 through the Corinthian isthmus — is visible from the bridge at its eastern entrance, 15 minutes east of Loutraki by road. At 21 m wide and up to 79 m deep, it is one of the great 19th-century engineering feats. The view from the bridge down into the cutting is vertiginous. Bungee jumping from the bridge is also available for those who want a different kind of wellness experience than the thermal spa. Nafplio — Greece's first modern capital, 1.5 hours south — makes Loutraki a natural start point for a longer Peloponnese itinerary.

Nafplio — one of the most beautiful towns in Greece, Greece's first modern capital after independence, and the gateway to Mycenae and Epidaurus — is 1.5 hours south. Corinth, Ancient Corinth, and the Corinth Canal are under 30 minutes east. The Acrocorinth fortress above ancient Corinth (one of the largest medieval fortresses in the Peloponnese) is a 45-minute drive from Loutraki and worth a half-day.
