Teleporio Score™ — How We Score Greek Island Routes

The complete methodology behind the Teleporio Score™. Seven factors — travel time, cost, sea conditions, reliability, complexity, priority alignment, and seasonal suitability — combined into a single 0–100 confidence number.

What is the Teleporio Score™?

The Teleporio Score™ is a single number from 0 to 100 that brings together every factor affecting a Greek island journey — travel time, cost relative to alternatives, sea conditions, connection reliability, route complexity, traveler priority alignment, and seasonal suitability. The Score exists to help travelers choose between ferry and flight options with confidence rather than guesswork. A score of 85 or above indicates an excellent route for the stated priorities. Below 55 signals significant issues that warrant careful review.

The Seven Scoring Factors

Total Journey Time (20% base weight): door-to-door duration including port arrival buffer, embarkation, crossing, disembarkation, and onward transfer. Cost Relative to Alternatives (18%): fare compared to the cheapest available option on the same route and date — a relative value signal, not an absolute price score. Sea Conditions (18%): Beaufort wind strength combined with vessel-type sensitivity coefficients. A Beaufort 5 day affects catamarans far more severely than large conventional ferries. Connection Reliability (15%): buffer time between connections and the statistical likelihood of a delay propagating. Route Complexity (12%): number of legs, operators, and ports transited. Traveler Priority Alignment (10%): how well the route matches the stated priority — speed, cost, comfort, reliability, sustainability, family-suitability, or pet-friendliness. Seasonal Suitability (7%): route appropriateness for the time of year, including ferry frequency, Meltemi risk, and whether services operate at all.

Priority Modes

The Score adapts to eight priority modes: Best Overall, Fastest Route, Lowest Cost, Most Comfortable, Family Friendly, Traveling with Pets, Most Reliable, and Greenest Route. When a priority is selected, the relevant factor weights shift accordingly. The same crossing can score 74 on one priority and 91 on another — the Score is always relative to what matters to you, not an absolute ranking.

What the Score Does Not Do

The Teleporio Score does not guarantee a booking, predict exact sea conditions, or replace traveler judgment. It is not influenced by commercial relationships — Teleporio does not accept payment to improve a route's score. All scores are illustrative and should be confirmed against live operator schedules and current conditions before booking.
