The Athens (Piraeus) to Serifos Crossing

SeaJets and Blue Star serve Serifos on the western Cyclades route — an uncrowded island treasured by those who know it for its dramatic hilltop chora, excellent beaches, and complete absence of mass tourism infrastructure; Livadi port sits in a sheltered bay at the foot of the chora

The crossing takes 4–5 hours by catamaran; 5.5–6.5 hours by conventional Blue Star. 1–3 daily in summer on the western Cyclades route; winter frequency reduced

Sea Conditions and Beaufort Exposure

the western Cyclades faces the Meltemi from the northwest; Livadi bay is relatively sheltered for arrival but the approach crossing is exposed; afternoon crossings in July–August face Beaufort 5–7; Serifos is at the beginning of the western Cyclades route so exposure time is shorter than Sifnos or Milos

Booking and Tickets

Serifos has no airport — ferry only; the western Cyclades route has lower capacity than central Cyclades so advance booking is more important relative to the island's smaller profile; the island's small accommodation stock fills in peak summer

Arrival

Livadi port in its sheltered bay with the dramatic chora visible on the ridge 150 metres above is one of the most striking arrival views in the Cyclades; the walk up to the chora by the old donkey path (45 minutes) is the best way to arrive there — the views back down to Livadi and the Aegean are outstanding
