The Mykonos to Delos Crossing

organised day-trip boats depart from Mykonos Old Port (near the town waterfront) to Delos — the uninhabited sacred island and UNESCO World Heritage Site; Delos is not accessible by regular ferry — only organised day-trip boats, as overnight stays are prohibited; boats depart in the morning and return in the afternoon

The crossing takes 30 minutes by day-trip boat from Mykonos Old Port. several morning departures daily (approximately 09:00–13:00); all return in the afternoon (approximately 12:00–15:00); no evening services

Sea Conditions and Beaufort Exposure

the channel between Mykonos and Delos is Meltemi-exposed; afternoon wind can cancel boats; morning departures are the reliable window and the only option as boats return before the afternoon Meltemi builds; Beaufort 5+ can cancel services entirely

Booking and Tickets

buy tickets at Mykonos Old Port on the morning of travel — advance booking is not typically needed except in peak August; bring water (nothing available on the island), sunscreen, a hat, and walking shoes; the archaeological site entry is separate (approximately €12 at the site gate); budget 3 hours minimum on the island

Arrival

Delos is entirely uninhabited — there is a small museum, toilets, and a water fountain at the site entrance but no food or drinks for sale; the site is extensive (the entire island is an archaeological zone); the summit of Mt Kynthos (112 metres) gives a panoramic view over the ancient city and the surrounding Cyclades islands
